It is alive! Finally have the Rekluse EXP working in the KDX

This is part of Project KDX – Rekluse EXP.

I made some time to get the Rekluse EXP installed today.

While I had the cover off, I took care of the leaking seal:

When I only have  the outer/smaller clutch cover off, I lock the rear tire and put the transmission in 4th or 5th gear.  It makes easy work of getting the clutch nut off.  You just have to be careful that you rotate the tire so the spokes don’t hit the bar:

I’ve gotten pretty good at getting the clutch pack, basket and hub aligned and installed quickly now.  I’ll stack everything in the basket and then just lightly tighten down the bolts to keep the clutch pack together, but still allow things to move around:

I install the basket first and get the gears to mesh.  Then I drop the rest of the clutch in and can wiggle things around to get it to drop in:

Once I got everything bolted back together, I let the engine warm up to operating temperature.  Then I started adjusting the clutch cable.  The hybrid clutch isn’t as “tall” as the stock KDX clutch, so I had to adjust it out this far to get the correct clutch gap.  I’ve got a couple of ideas of how to correct this:

And here is my crappy video of a quick ride around the yard.
